Reaction - Hatton Vs Pacquiao

It's official; my head is spinning. No, it's not because I was at a work colleague's stag night over the weekend (although that certainly hasn't helped!) but it's because I've just seen Manny Pacquiao Ricky Hatton inside two rounds destroy.

Although I was among the minority tipping Hatton to pull off the upset victory, that certainly doesn't mean I never gave the chance to win, because I certainly did Manny. So, the shocking part for me was not the victory itself but the manner of the victory. Ricky Hatton vanquished inside two rounds and left flat on his back in the centre of the ring. Unimaginable.

I didn't think that any fighter could do that Hatton so quickly. When Pacquiao's trainer, the renowned Freddie Roach, said Pacquiao would take Hatton out inside three rounds I dismissed his comments as the usual pre fight mind games and bravado. It turns out that Freddie knew precisely what he was talking about.

I honestly don't know where to start to talk about this goal first of all, I must salute Manny Pacquiao fight. Even with Floyd Mayweather Jr. now official out of retirement, the Filipino is unquestionably the number one pound for pound fighter on the planet. Pacquiao used to be an aggressive whirlwind of a fighter but Roach has turned his man into a complete boxer puncher. Against Hatton, Pacquiao was more than happy to concede centre ring and to box on the outside, something he managed with aplomb.

Manny's hand speed is truly something special. When he sees an opening he manages to land four or five hurtful, vicious punches when ordinary fighters would look to land one or two punches. Pacquiao's dismissal of Hatton is possibly the best performance of his career and it's caused me to reconsider Pacquiao's win over Oscar De La Hoya again. Perhaps 'The Golden Boy' wasn't a shot fighter in his last contest purpose simply unable to cope with the amazing speed and ferocity of the Filipino fighters attacks.

Already we've heard many so called experts point to Hatton's lifestyle as contributing to his downfall and some even pointing to the fact Hatton has been a 10 stone fighter for too long and making the weight has caught up with him. Let's remember that this is the same lifestyle and weight that took Hatton to a superb victory against Paulie Malignaggi six months ago. Manny deserve all the credit for this victory rather than those who are instead trying to point to Hatton's failures.

So let's now turn and look at Ricky Hatton, quite possibly the most fanatically supported fighter in the world, with over 25,000 fans travelling all the way to Las Vegas from the United Kingdom. As we've alluded to earlier, this was conclusive as a defeat as is possible for Hatton to experience. Floored twice in round one, Hatton did manage to make some kind of recovery in the second, being more competitive and landing some decent shots. But one big left hand in the closing seconds of round two ended the contest emphatically; the everlasting image of the contest will be Hatton, flat on his back with the referee Kenny Bayless, not even bothering to count.

So what went wrong for Hatton - was simply too good Pacquiao? Well, there is no doubt that Hatton's tactics could have been better, he was pretty straight up with his chin higher than I'd like and his hands were also on the low side. Ricky seemed to march forward like that with a distinct lack of head movement on the way in, which made him easy pickings for the phenomenal 'pac - Man'. Hatton's footwork was also pretty poor and rather than trying to work the angles to create openings, he tried to bludgeon Pacquiao head on.

But, what really stood out for me was Hatton's lack of punch resistance. Forced to hold it in the opening stanza before he had even hit the canvas for the first time, it was plain that simply couldn't handle the power of Pacquiao Hatton. It's something I am still confused about now, I mean Pacquiao made his career at 9 st 4lbs yet here he was hurting the bona-fide 10 st number one with every shot. I know Hatton has been hurt before, perhaps most surprisingly by Luis Collazo and most emphatically by Floyd Mayweather Jr. but he is certainly not a 'chinny' fighter.

Again though, perhaps instead of looking for shortfalls in Hatton we should instead be looking for positive's in Pacquiao - it is more than possible that Pacquiao's regime in developing his body into the 10 st light welterweight category, under the supervision of Freddie Roach and former world heavyweight champion Michael Moorer, has seen him increase his power, which combined with his sensational speed simply left Hatton unable to cope.

So, where does Hatton go now? There is no doubt Hatton has been a superb champion, whatever the détracteurs will say now - aren't we all wise after the event. Hatton has won multiple titles in two weight divisions and reached the pinnacle of the sport in boxing the pound for pound number one twice. Crucially though, he has fallen short on both occasions and whilst he is destined to be a British boxing great and future hall of famer, the mythical pound for pound title seems like it will always be one step too far for Manchester's 'hitman'.

Retirement to me would seem the most sensitive option, despite (or possibly because) the fact I am a huge Ricky Hatton fan. There are potentially a couple of huge domestic re-appear not too far away, should Amir Khan defeat Andreas Kotelnik on June 27th (for the WBA light welterweight title) then has Hatton-Khan title fight would do huge business in England. Goal, it would also be a huge come down for Ricky. That is not meant to detract from Khan's ability but it is a case of two fighters being from different era's and for Hatton, I'm not sure he could get fired up to face Khan.

The other option, perhaps more intriguing, is that he faces his old nemesis Junior Witter, should he manage to defeat Devon Alexander for the vacant WBC light welterweight title. At Hatton-Witter clash has been mooted for years, before even won his first world title against Kostya Tszyu Hatton. It's a clash that could fill any football stadium in England and one that Hatton could certainly get motivated for - there is genuine dislike between these boxers with a lot of trash talk having taking place over the years about who avoided who. But again, it's a level below what Ricky has been operating at and for me, it does not offer Ricky a route back to the pinnacle of the sport.

So the fallout from this fight is huge. Hatton is retirement staring in the face, whilst Pacquiao's star is shining brighter than any figure in the sport has for the past ten years. Here we have a champion to be proud of, humble, talented and exciting. A Pacquiao vs. Mayweather Jr. match up, should it take place later this year, would undoubtedly be the biggest contest the sport has seen in the past 20 years.

Manny Pacquiao VS La Hoya

Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De la Hoya will meet on 6 December 2008 in the largest year boxing match. In my analysis, the factors that defines the benefits and and the weakness of both fighters.

Speed promotes Pacquiao. Even the Hoya admitted as well. The additional weight may make Paquiao lose part of its speed but still, it has the edge when it comes to this.

PowerOf la Hoya probably packs more punch, at least with a powerful left hook that he actually used during periods of the offence and the movements backward. Say of experts that all it takes is of la Hoya hit Pacquiao with this powerful from the left, and it will be at stake over the smallest hunting.

Pacquiao on the other hand, is also known for its own killer left and, more recently, has shown how fast and hard his right hand is when it is used much for stopping David Diaz, where the two fought for the WBC world lightweight Crown. Left-handed, Pacquiao is deadly with her once written American blogger Filipino field provided boxing dates back at the time of the Colosseum, where Gladiators mutually beaten to death, to the delight of the spectators.

AbsorptionThere is an issue if punches of Pacquiao would be any on of la Hoya. Having started in the category of 110 lbs, struck by a champion who has taken and repeatedly reversed to world-class fighters in the category 147 lbs and upward appears as a command.

However, Pacquiao has fought and overthrown the greatest and most heavy sparring matte. It is possible it can take la Hoya punch and release its own powerful left. However, most people believe that la Hoya may absorb the Pacquiao punched more than Pacquiao can take powerful jabs of la Hoya.

Endurance This tends to support Pacquiao and more of la Hoya. La Hoya was observed have understood slower in the later series of his last few battles and Pacquiao played consistently fast in its last episodes. His fight with mark and Barrera them-long distance, and yet he remained fast. In his last fight, he eliminated David Diaz in 9 circles.

Pacquiao vs De La Hoya: analysis of control Pre

La Hoya may have height, reach and benefits of power, Pacquiao speed, agility and endurance. If he is able to break into defences of la Hoya and avoid the famous left hook, he may win on points. His endurance, speed and agility can be used with high efficiency la Hoya forego the opportunity to Earth this hook left killer. In addition, left from Pacquiao, which eliminated a number of opponents in lighter categories, can begin to become deadly towers later, when la Hoya may be tired.
La Hoya, golden boy must use his height and achieve maximum benefits. Once it is able to find his rhythm, it should be able to release this famous left hook. Judging from the experts, who needs of la Hoya is a solid left.

Manny Pacquiao: The challenge of Margarito

The world's pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao (51-3-2, 38 Kos) of the Philippines thread s another unfamiliar race when he fights former World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight titlist Antonio Margarito (38-6, 27 KOs) of Mexico on 13 November 2010 at Dallas, Texas, USA. Pacquiao had been known to brave the odds as a fighter (or even as a kid growing up in his hometown General Santos City in southern Philippines). Goal against Margarito, Pacquiao faces for the first time the biggest and heaviest opponent he will ever trade punches with. Aside from differences in weight, Pacquiao also faces in this unique fight challenges, such as demands of his new calling as an elected member of the national legislature which base his focus as a professional athlete and, to some extent, physical wear and tear. Ever since Pacquiao started fighting professionally at age 16, there always seemed to be an issue with either his or his oppoenents' weight.

He once admitted before American media that he put coins in his pocket during his professional debut at the minimum weight ceiling of 105 pounds. At that time, he said, he weighed 98 pounds. At 17 he had problems making the 111-pound catchweight limit against Rustico Torrecampo and was penalized with wearing a heavier pair of gloves. Torrecampo defeated Pacquiao by knock out in the third round. At 20, Pacquiao failed to make the weight limit of 112 pounds in the defense of his WBC flyweight title against Thailand's Midgoen Singsurat. Stripped of his belt even before the fight started, Pacquiao went on to undertake Singsurat in a lopsided piece. Pacquiao lost by knockout, also in the third round. Pacquiao seemed to be comfortable at 122-126 pounds, as indicated by either knocking out or retiring 13 of his next 15 opponents. The other two ends ended in draws. But starting two years ago at age 30 in his fight against Oscar de la Hoya, Pacquiao's issue about weight had something to do with the opposition being naturally heavier than him. The difference between his weight at weigh in and fight night averaged at 5.95 pounds.

In comparison, the difference in weight at weigh in and fight night for his opponents (of La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto and Joshua Clottey) averaged at 11.75 pounds. In 2009, against Hatton Pacquiao weighed 138 pounds on the day of the weigh in, but weighed 148 pounds during the day of the fight itself. Hatton weighed 152 pounds on fight night. Later in that year Pacquiao contended for Miguel Cotto's World Boxing Organization welterweight (147 pounds) title at the catchweight limit of 144 pounds. Pacquiao tipped the scales at 144 pounds during weigh in and 148 pounds on the day of the fight itself. Cotto was reported to have weighed at 160 pounds on the day of the fight. Four months later, Pacquiao gave away 16 pounds to Clottey on the night of the fight. Against Margarito, Pacquiao (regardless of the unlimited food intake he gets) is expected to climb the ring with his biggest weight handicap ever.

Another fresh challenge for Pacquiao as he prepares to face Margarito is how to manage his time as a full-time congressman and a part-time professional boxer. While quite surprising for many who thought Pacquiao's foray into politics was nothing more than an exercise in vanity, those who followed his rise to power inside the slippery ring of politics should be pleased with the way he has taken his legislative work seriously. As shown in the first episode of HBO's ' s 24/7 series, nothing of what he does in training camp is sacred where his congressional duties demand his attention. This definitely is one such rare exclamation mark in public service imagery. On the other hand, that also makes it hard for Chief Coach Freddie Roach to hide his dismay, and on that basis alone it leaves hardcore fight fans alarmed over the possibility that The Pacman may meet his match this time.

As the fight looms closer, the impression that Pacquiao could be in for a long and tough night of fistic battle gets ACSS. Not necessarily because of a superior opposition (no disrespect intended to Margarito), but more likely because Pacquiao could beat Pacquiao.

Finally, there is the issue of physical wear and tear. Pacquiao has tried to hide his recurring physical pain from the public. In his fight against mark in 2004, he blamed his socks for the football he got sore. The injury was more serious than that. The pain is back and recently he slipped into a Manila hospital as "jun jamora." Also, courtesy of the times when he was young and barely able to eat, he suffers from attacks of stomach pain. As a fighter ages, something in his physical make-up must give. And that something differs from one to the other fighter. In his youth, Sugar Ray Robinson lost only once in his first 132 fights. After competing for 11 years at age 30, he lost 18 of his succeeding 68 matches.

Roberto Duran lost only once in his first 73 fights. But starting at age 29, he lost 15 of his next 46 ends. And at age 43, he lost 7 of his final 18 fights. Julio Cesar Chavez was undefeated in his first 90 fights. Goal after he turned 32 and being active for 14 straight years, he lost 6 of his next 25 fights.

Oscar De La Hoya never lost until his 32nd fight, at age 26. From age 30 onwards, he lost 4 of his next 7 bits. The examples can go on and on. But the message of each story is the same: nobody beats time. Old age may not be a curse. But like all properties of nature, it needs to be managed. Many legends were found wanting not because of lack of skill or physical fitness. Rather, they embarrassed themselves for not knowing when to withdraw. Manny Pacquiao will soon turn 32 (Margarito will turn 33 in March next year). And the legends like him have shown wear and tear at this point of their respective careers. He has shown none of it in his last 6-even 7-fights so far. Purpose drawn or later something will have to give. If time-or age - had stopped the best of athletes, it could stop the Pacman, too. As to when it happens, however, only time can tell. Not a few well meaning friends, like Roach, have in fact advised him to plan his exit while he is on top.

What can make retiring an easy decision for Pacquiao to do is the secure and solid standing he has established for himself in the sport. Excepting hecklers and those who just can't leave so much money on the table (which may not necessarily be wrong), many people think there really is nothing left to prove himself.

Manny Pacquiao and Freddie Roach

Manny Pacquiao and Freddie Roach have developed one of the combinations more dynamic trainer and fighter since Joe e. Martin SR. and Muhammad Ali. Freddie Roach has trained some of the biggest names in boxing like Mike Tyson, Bernard Hopkins and former student, he recently defeated Oscar De La Hoya. Roach however, tell you that his pupil would be nothing else than Pacquiao himself. Manny has even gone as far as the appellant Freddie Roach, "a gift sent from heaven." Freddie Roach on numerous occasions has reciprocal saying "Manny Pacquiao is like a son to me."

The relationship between Roach and Pacman has developed from the years unbreakable trust where each individual another need to win. Victory of Manny Pacquiao: Oscar De La Hoya is also important to Freddie Roach. After the defeat of Manny De La Hoya, Roach enjoyed in the celebration with as much joy as Pacquiao. Prized student the Roach has just won the most important fight of his career and he was Roach who orchestrated the master strategy clearly dominated by the struggle. Roach will later say that "This is the greatest victory of my life", and is a trainer who has formed three other great champions. Roach, who has Parkinson's prefers to be her Wild Card Gym as much as possible, but recently flew to the Philippines on the occasion of the 30th anniversary Pacquiao and flew home to Los Angeles the next day.

Both also have their share of disagreements, naturally a father and son have with each other. In 2004, Roach threatened to leave after the team Pacquiao as Roach refused to work with the proponent Murad Muhammad longer. In 2006, Roach disagree vehemently with Manny when Pacquiao spurned a promotional contract best with Golden Boy Production of Oscar De La Hoya to remain in the claws of Bob Arum high-ranking business promotion. Bob Arum was not always the blessing of an honest promoter in public view, but he has always delivered great battles that fans want to see. "Retirement is better for Manny."

MANNY Pacquiao has succeeded in what most boxers can just dream, but somehow he continues to fight and to face risks that brutal sport involves.

Manny Pacquiao-giving glory back to the correct

Victory of Manny Pacquiao Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton and Joshua Clottey is a cause of celebration at the national level. The Philippines is still under the euphoria of the performance for stunning from Pacquiao that made him new weight WBO welterweight world champion.

Just after his most recent win Pacquiao made some notable statements which cemented his reputation with humility. He refused to yield to the temptation to rise to the point of arrogance. Composure has always been that of a man who assigns the blessings God without much on subscription himself and what he could do next.

Filipino ring icon has captured the imagination and inspiration of the nation. His victory over many major veterans boxing wiped out doubts that it is just an ordinary fighter aircraft. Those who had witnessed the rise of the Pacquiao that donut vendor and bakery worker to a global brand can attest that Pacquiao has created a legacy that is difficult to replicate in years to come.

To win seven championship belts increasingly large number of divisions is no ordinary feat. Pacquiao is the first boxer in history of the sport who has obtained this magnanimous milestone in professional boxing career. If Pacquiao beats most boxers, legacy of Pacquiao is already reached. It rewrites the history of boxing.

In other words, Pacquiao has come to a point where there no need to prove anything to anyone. When you are a champion, you are a champion. There is no such a thing as a "champion more." For Pacquiao, there is nothing rendering it more admirable and credible because it has already reached the pinnacle of success.

If Pacquiao guns for one-eighth of the belt, it may be the beginning of the fall of Pacquiao. In fact there are boxing experts who have pushed Paquiao idea for a belt of eight.

The temptation to do more, of course, is not easy to handle. Don't forget to Alexander the great? He wept when he realized that there is no more land to conquer. He extends his campaign and he met his end. He was not satisfied with what he had done to Alexander the great. He wanted to learn more. When he wanted to learn more, he met his end.

The same thing could happen to Pacquiao if he listened to internal desires that demand continuing for most WINS, fame, more money, more honour and glory.

Test of the humility of the Pacquiao does not come from outside. It comes from inside. Wanting more and earn more could prove disastrous for him.

Some things have limitations. We cannot have everything. There are points of life in which we realize that there is no more mountain to conquer. If this is the case, why not enjoy the view of the Valley?

Pacquiao Vs Clottey is analysis and forecasting

Pacquiao vs Clottey fight is ongoing and two fighters have their game to prepare for the big come fight March 13 in Dallas Cowboy Stadium. As usual, there are some trash talking between the two camps (direct and indirect smack talk...) with both sides, saying that his man will be beaten and vice versa. Of course, both sides make valid points with each Hunter with forces and weaknesses. The real question is really which is the better fighter? See an overview of the points of each Hunter who they would properly parse and use to their advantage.

First off is Joshua Clottey. He has a record of 35 WINS, 3 losses and 1 draw with 20 of those victories from KOs. In other words, he is a fighter who might bring down opponents. What makes strong is that his chin. He was ever overthrown career because it can contain its own strong punch. It also has good defense that made him impenetrable.

So, what should be the game for Clottey plan? There just continue what he done. Yes, Pacquiao is very fast and can move in and out but if the Pacman cannot cross, how can he score points less to knock down? The key of this struggle is therefore its defence and its ability to counterpunching. If it can bring the fight against the day, then Clottey has a good chance of frustrating Pacquiao to win.

Manny Pacquiao is a living legend. It prides itself on having that record 50 WINS, 3 losses and 2 draws with 37 of these victories from KOs. It is the number "Weight by weight" fighting with championship in several divisions of weight belts and a name itself has been dismantling the bigger and stronger than his opponents. It performs all using his speed and he brought along as he climbed from the weight.

Once again, the key to win against Clottey is taking advantage of its speed in the ring. Yes, there so many analysts of boxing, but if you ask any opponent who he defeated, they say that it is not power that beat them, but it's speed. We know that speed kills and it is quite true in the case of Pacquiao. Its speed will create confusion in the minds of his opponent and take a toll in stake. Mathematically speaking, the combination of its power and number of punched it will land on Clottey will determine the fight.

What will be the final result? Which country will emerge victorious? IMHO, the victory will be again taken by Pacman Philippines. The fight will be difficult for both veterans and even much more competitive than Pacquiao last fight against Cotto. However, Pacquiao speed and boxing IQ is too much for the defence of the Clottey. Couple skills of the Pacman with a legendary trainer and coach Freddie Roach, then you have the formula perfect for another victory for Pacquiao.

My verdict is Pacquiao WINS by 10 rounds per KB.
